Jennifer Lawrence's bout with gravity at the Oscars

If you watched the Oscars all the way through to the end on Sunday night then you probably saw Jennifer Lawrence nearly face plant on the stairs as she walked up to accept her Oscar for best lead actress. When I witnessed this event, I was sitting on my couch, wrapped in a blanket and eating the thin mint cookies my family tried to hide from me.

My reaction was one of both a stifled laughter and also a rush of embarrassment for her. And then when Hugh Jackmen ran over to see if she needed help, I "awwed," cause he is just such a gentleman and considered it lucky for her that she had pulled her dress up before walking up those fateful stairs. I wanted to take a moment to just revel in how gracefully she handled it, and how utterly human she proved to be.

Unlike most stars today, Jennifer is incredibly grounded. She doesn't care about conforming to Hollywood's expectations such as being thin. She would rather be a role model for young girls everywhere. She doesn't think about the most eloquent thing to say, instead she says the first thing that pops into her mouth. She is like a real person! Here are some examples:

She is pretty much my favorite person of the year. And no I have not seen Silver Linings Playbook yet. And yes, it is at the top of my to-do list for whenever I get a free evening coming up in the distant future.

Musicbox Mondays

I know I've been really quite around here for the past few weeks, (sorry about that!) I've just been really busy, especially with homework!  Is anyone else ready for the semester to be over already?!  Hopefully this week I can squeeze in a few more posts!

Thinking of a friend...

Sometimes, if you are lucky, you find a friend. Not just any friend, but someone who you know will always have your back, someone who will listen to your random conspiracy theories and agree. Someone who you can share adventures with, because only they will see the light the same as you. Someone who will put up with all your baggage from past relationships, and insecurities, and crap and still love you the same. Someone who you can share your most embarrassing secrets with and who will prompt you to see that life isn't so bad.
Someone who will walk with you to class because you are afraid of the creep who is stalking you.
Someone who will ride with you at six flags when you are in an odd-numbered group because they know you hate riding alone and you are also the one person that miraculously does not get on their nerves after a long day of waiting in line.
Someone who always opens up their home to you, their life to you.
Someone who knows that all you need to feel better is just a cup of coffee at Starbucks and a giggle, and maybe an egg roll to take home.
Someone who both encourages and inspires you to be yourself.
These qualities are rare in a person. They deserve to be recognized, even though you will probably take them for granted most of the time. But when you do remember it, take the time to let them know how much you care. Because this is a friendship that will last forever, and so it should be celebrated daily, for it is a blessing from the Lord.
Each friend represents a world in us, a world not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born. - Anasis Nin

Musicbox Mondays

So this song...pretty much amazing. I don't even understand half of what Nikki Minaj is saying but I'm going to go ahead and call Alicia Keys my spirit animal of the moment.

Do you ever have a song that just gets you through the day? Or year maybe? So far it seems that this song is going to be my song of 2013. Like it has literally been getting me through these past couple of weeks.  In 2011, my senior year, it was Firework by Katy Perry.  For the second half of 2011 and most of 2012, Maroon 5's song Moves Like Jagger got me through my first year of college.  I'm not even sure what Moves Like Jagger is all about.  But for some reason, listening to it in the car just helped calm me down.  Maybe that is really wierd, I dunno.  I didn't really pick it, it just picked me.

What song keeps you going through out the day?

Is it February already?

How can it be? 2013 is already passing me by! I feel like I'm already booked up for this month, there is so much going on, so much to get done!
I've got to work on de-stressing. Even though it's only been a couple weeks into the semester, I'm already stressed out and exhausted. I'm thinking I'll need to schedule in some much needed relaxation, (and maybe a pedicure too!)
